Three years. Three vehicle generations. Three systems in production. I led the digital experience direction at Lynk & Co, from a concept car shown at global reveals in Shanghai to a full 3D operating system running in real vehicles on the road in China today.

The work is in production

Most UX portfolios show concepts. This one does not, or not only. Everything described on this page either shipped in a real vehicle or was presented at an official Lynk & Co global reveal. The brief was not "explore the future." It was: build the thing, then ship it.

I joined Lynk & Co as Design Lead and spent three years across the full digital experience stack. In-car OS, interior and exterior lighting systems, HUD, and the concept car that kicked off a new design era for the brand. On the 900 alone I led a team of 29 across four disciplines, and reviewed every cycle with VQM, our stakeholders in China.

Concept Car "The Next Day"

Role: Design Lead, Digital Experience & HMI Direction

I led the digital direction of Lynk & Co's 2021 concept car, internally briefed as "The Next Day." My focus was to define what the in-car digital experience should feel like five years out. I shaped both the HMI concept and the interior lighting language that went with it.

The concept was presented at a global reveal at the Shanghai Auto Show. My work appears in the official brand film, post-its and all. The reveal landed. Press picked it up across design and automotive outlets. Lynk & Co decided to build the car for real, which became the 900.

Lynk 08 · Interior lighting, exterior lighting, HUD

Role: Lead Designer, Lighting & HUD across generations

Shipped / In Production

Designed and delivered the full interior lighting system for the Lynk 08. From concept to production. Digital prototypes in After Effects and Blender, direct collaboration with engineers, implementation-ready assets for in-car deployment. Exterior lighting concepts followed, so the light language flowed from inside the cabin to the front and rear of the car.

In parallel I designed the HUD across multiple generations. Always the same brief: critical information, zero cognitive load, at 120 km per hour. Basic principles first (never obscure the road, only glanceable content), then turn-by-turn navigation with AR arrows projected onto the actual road ahead.

Lynk 900 · 3D Operating System

Role: Design Lead · 2D framework, then live 3D in Unreal

The largest and most technically demanding scope of my time at Lynk & Co. I led the full journey from a flat 2D framework to a 3D operating system for the 900 (internally L946). We built the whole system twice in one year. First in 2D in Figma, delivered in cycles to VQM in China, so the hierarchy, priority and look-and-feel landed before we spent time on depth. Then rebuilt in live 3D in Unreal, so every menu, every state, every transition rendered in real time.

Along the way we ran four workshops with the design team and stakeholders, six personas, thirty-two interviews across Sweden and China, and the design system underneath everything. Flexible grid, brand icons, exterior LED icons, rebuilt Meizu components, button library, custom plug-ins, and icons for the physical panels. All built to travel to the next car (L955).

I ran AB testing on the physical rotary controller with the same rigour as the software. Twelve car-club testers, four rounds, four criteria, blind and task-based. The winner became the Rotary Vortex, shipped on the production car.

After delivery I established Lynk & Co's internal design community. Knowledge sharing sessions across Stockholm and Shanghai, OTA generation reviews, and the design infrastructure that keeps the system evolving after I moved on.

The outcome

A 3D OS in production, sold in China today. A lighting system on the road across two generations. A concept car that lives in the brand's history and led directly to the production 900. And a design system and community built to outlast the person who built it.

The work proved something worth stating directly. Complex digital systems, with real engineering constraints, real safety requirements, real supply chains, can still be beautifully designed. That is the standard I carry into every project.
